That modifier is not so much a laser as a shotgun with a choke. Not much range, but a massive spread.

It's very pretty, so I like having it there to look at, but aside from story-specific indicator-icons I tend to like keeping my avatar constant. And the South Park one is just a smidgen more versatile. That's all.
