Just wanted to let you know that one of our tenants, $office, Inc. will be conducting HAZMET training in the back of the Plaza I parking lot tomorrow afternoon. I didn’t want anyone to be alarmed when they see the trainees in their HAZMET suits. They will not be handling any hazardous materials, they will just be training with empty barrels. If you have any questions, please contact me at BR-549.

First, the term is HAZMAT, a contraction of hazardous materials.

Second, I wanna play! Cool yellow jumpsuit and a chemical spill? Youbetcha!

EDIT: response from boss, "Too bad you can't. 'Course if you sneak out...."
I have the best supervisors.

Third: what is the cute little office near you likely to be working with that's a hazardous material ...? (And do they really expect trained monkeys office goons to handle a chem spill??

Maybe the focus is on cover up, hiding the evidence, and damage control ; )

But surely then they'd be in black suits?

It is odd that they have office goons doing this. I have some CERT training, and even the sheriffs and firefolk don't wanna deal with HAZMAT much less train us to do so. Our training about hazardous materials is stay way the heck away from it, and keep everyone away (but DON"T go get them if they go that way anyways).

Considering the anthrax emergency training we got - I think it is geared to protect management from coming in contact with it, and minimize the number of sick days they have to pay out.

hehe...

Really?! Ooo, the things one learns on-line.

Me, I've been wanting to play crash victim in one of those airport disaster triage exercises, but either I don't hear in time, or don't have enough sunscreen to be dead.

the supposedly-official line is that your training suits are blue so you don't confuse them with the real suit when you go to a scene.

You should try to talk them into fire extinguisher training. We got to do that a couple of times at work and it was fun. They have this big oil pan that they light off and you get to use a large fire extinguisher to put it out.

By the way, the title of this post is driving me crazy because I'm sure this is movie dialog and I can't remember from where.
