I had spent an inordinate amount of time on holiday drabbles this week, forgetting that I would not be able to do final write/edits on Chapter Twenty-three, which involves heavy lifting.
No, for yesterday was FREE COMIC BOOK DAY, and I managed to hit two of the local stores while Hyperactive Lad and Himself were at the Home Depot for the free kid's workshop.
Normally, the next thing to occur would have been groceries and home, wherein I would write while doing laundry. No, dear heart; Not the first weekend of May, at any rate.
From eleven in the morning to 9:30 that night, we were ensconced on the square for the Main Street Jazz Festival. Over ten hours of music, FOR FREE. Okay, so the food vendors aren’t giving it away, but I got locally-produced music and fried dill pickles and a day to sit outdoors.
It did start to rain - just a drizzle, mind you - during the set by Phil Woods Quintet. This is traditional, and darned if I completely forgot an umbrella or jacket. Still a lovely evening.
