I am a horrible child.

There have been issues with my grandmother's need for nursing home care due to Alzheimer's disease.

She has additional problems on the psychiatric side of things. Hell, I could have told you that DECADES ago, people! No, no - I was just imagining things and she really didn't mean it that way. Yeah, right; it just meant I wasn't worth a moment's thought of who I WAS and not who she thought I should be.

I still have issues with things that have happened over the past lifetime. I know I should let go of the negative stuff, but it is rooted deep. That is what happens when the seeds are planted in antiquity and regularly fertilized.

However, I know I am a horrid, ugly wicked child for giggling at the latest news: Maw-Maw has managed to get through the so called “security doors” in, let's count them now, people - FOUR nursing homes. In some of these cases, MULTIPLE doors and MULTIPLE occasions.

My grandmother now requires the care of a maximum-security nursing home facility.

BWAHAHAHAHA! She is the female incarnation of Arsène Lupin! Sister said we should sign her out on a day pass and point her at a bank or two! I'd quote Heinlein, but Maw-Maw hates cats!

Oh, I am so going to hell.

It's been shown that a beer a day rinses the aluminum which causes/contributes to Alzheimer's out of the brain.

That's sad but also strangely awesome in its own way.

The thing is, she's having to move because she is getting out, but the nursing homes don't do anything about whichever nurses' keys she has lifted.

Heh. Well, we'll prob'ly have lots of our friends for company. See ya there.
And family is often subjective. We have blood relations we steer clear of, and friends we'd die to defend. As do most everyone.
I guess, at least, with this post you're turning guilt into a guilty pleasure.

"Gabrielle, I want you to understand something. We both have families we were born into. But sometimes families change and we have to build our own.
For me, our friendship binds us closer than blood ever could."

Thing is, I'm taking notes, and letting Mama know I'm checking out the options.

I'll be right there with you. It's not that I'll actually take pleasure in sending my mom off to a nursing home, preferably a cheap one where the nurses torment the elderly for kicks on Saturday nights, making them do wheelchair races down the halls until they roll the chairs, (because I will, I promise you,) it's that she'll have deserved it.

Oops. I mean..um.. oh hell. Just get my spot in the lake of fire ready. I'll take a margarita and a tuna sammich.

Hey, is a tuna melt okay? It's hard to keep the mayo from going off in the lake.

We need to start The Retirement Home Where We Want To Live, and do it now so it will be ready when we are.

DANG, there's this one episode of Wiseguy you HAVE to see now. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll wonder why the producer was living in your brain.
