Taking his attention for permission, she climbed into his lap, “Tell me a true story.”

“Hrm… are you in the mood for Tales of the Fools at the Institute?”

“No, I wanna hear about when Mama saved you from the buzz saw with the glacially slow conveyor belt.”

“C’mon, you’ve heard that one lots of times.”

“It’s still my favorite,” his daughter turned her fatal-error-screen blue eyes on him, “please?”

He chuckled, “Well, it was my first interview after graduation….”
