Decisions are made by those who show up.

Charlotte gathered her things and said, “I’m going out to vote at lunch, sir. Did you want to come along?”

“Charlotte, it’s not even a midterm election,” Madblood snorted, “This is just a local pissing match.”

“I vote in every election, sir.” Charlotte’s quiet declaration stopped Madblood’s chortling.

It was Lovelace who broke the silence by asking, “I can understand the civic duty, but your response seems… stronger. Why?"

Charlotte sighed and said, “Because my great-great-grandmother was arrested for trying to vote in her local elections, where the highest ranking position contested was alderman.”

Madblood said, “I’ll get my coat.”

Polls were officially supposed to close at 7:00 Central. The news is showing people still in line to vote at 9:53 pm.

I think the early voting option will be used a bit more next election.

I was in and out in about 30 minutes. Guess I was one of the lucky ones. Then again, I usually go at around 9:30-10:30 in the morning. The opening rush is over and the lunch rush hasn't started.

Thank you. Me too. I invoke Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony, Lucretia Mott and all the Suffragettes I can remember before I vote. Bless them for keeping up the fight even though the first wave didn't get to enjoy the fruits of their toil.

Hey, at the time of the story, the 100th anniversary had passed.

Hmm... time to start thinking about the Centennial celebration, I think.

I was gratified to see that next to my mother's name in the voter logbook was a note about 'absentee ballot received'. It still didn't do too much good here, where the Reaganite SOB won Tallahassee, but at least she managed to make it a teeny bit harder.

Every vote counts, because snowflakes can make an avalanche if they get organized.
