Sixth Day of Christmas

Dog bounced into the room, “Guess what, Cat?”

Old Cat sighed inwardly as he raised his head, “What is it, Dog?”

“There’s a tree in the house.”

“Yes, Dog.”

“You don’t understand. There is a TREE in the HOUSE!” the pup said excitedly, bouncing back and forth on his front paws.

“Do not water it, or you will get in trouble.”

The young dog stopped in mid-bounce, “Oh, no - that‘s just mean,” and slunk off to the back door.

Cat shook his paw in distaste, and then chuckled at the memory of climbing the tree during his first holiday here.
